NAIL TRAINING COURSE TERMS & CONDITIONS

Thank you for booking your training course with Lisa Jane at 'Lisa Jane Academy' or at a third party training venue under the umbrella of 'Lisa Jane Academy' or 'Lisa Jane Nails & Training'.

Please read the following terms & conditions set out which are held as agreed upon booking any course whether online or in person. All terms are binding. A link to these will be sent to each learner upon booking in addition to being available on the website.

GENERAL

All courses are suitable for any student aged 16 years and over. Date of birth is requested on student intake forms, and photographic ID (drivers licence or passport) may be required. This is non negotiable due to insurance stipulations set out by the accrediting bodies.

All information whether details entered on the website (Lisa Jane Academy) in student intake forms (via Jotform) or by any other means, will be protected under GDPR and held in strict regulation for a period of 7 years. Digital files are only accessible to essential parties and your details will never be passed to third party groups.

Please ensure you send all queries regarding booking a course before purchase as once booking and enrolment has occurred, cancelling and refunds are not possible. Questions may be directed to info@lisajaneacademy.com 

ACCREDITATION 

All 'beginner' courses are accredited through either 'The Beauty Guild' or 'Professional Beauty Direct'. These are nationally recognised accreditation bodies and once you have completed your course, these certificates will enable you to gain insurance with a wide variety of insurers.

Please compare policies when looking to gain insurance as each one will offer different coverage to suit your own specific requirements. I do not accept any liability regarding insurace you may purchase or the coverage it provides.

BOOKINGS

All bookings must be made through 'the website' (www.lisajaneacademy.com) 

Full payment or part thereof using a payment instalment method should be used to confirm booking. My website accepts PayPal, PayPal pay in 3, Clearpay and card payment methods. Unfortunately a deposit cannot be used to secure a booking.

Please ensure on booking that all details are correct. Email address used will be entered to register you for the online theory portion of the course and the name entered will be used for your official certificate.

Ensure that these details do not auto-fill to nicknames or previous names and incorrect or unused email addresses. Fees may be incurred to change these details if necessary. 

When booking 'set date' courses, please thoroughly check dates and times as you will need to attend this specific time. Changes to 'set date' courses cannot be accommodated as they may not be run again for months at a time. When booking any other in person courses, times and dates available to fit your chosen training will appear, please double check you will definitely be able to attend as fees will be incurred to move dates once booked. 

As stated, once booked, your email will be used to send details of your upcoming training as well as a link to a learning styles questionnaire and a 'jotform' link to a student registration intake form. Read through all of this information carefully and ensure you complete each element and form carefully and thoroughly as this aids in your training experience as well as keeping you safe throughout your practical session. 

These questionnaires, forms as well as all elements of your online theory must be fullu complete before your practical session.

Failure to complete any element may result in your course being rescheduled which will incur fees payable. Please see fee scale below. 

RESCHEDULING

I understand that things happen or come up last minute which may mean you need to reschedule the time/date of one or more of your practical sessions. Please give me as much notice as possible (in writing to info@lisajaneacademy.com) so that we can rearrange your practical date with as little disruption as possible to your learning journey and I can re advertise the slot to waiting students.

The following fees will apply to reschedule:

  • Written notice with more than 1 week notice £50 admin fee will apply.
  • Written notice with more than 48 hours but less than 1 week, £100 admin fee will apply
  • Written notice within 48 hours up to the start time of the course £150 admin fee will apply

These will all need to be paid upon invoice before another date can be agreed and booked. See 'no show' fees below.

All courses must be completed within 6 months from the initial date of booking. Failure to complete within this time will incur fees as set out below;

  • Once 6 months from date of booking has been reached, £25 per discipline (gel polish / Builder / acrylic / efile etc) to extend a further 3 months. This may be repeated again at 9 months to avoid total period of 12 months.
  • At this point, 12 months after purchase, a re registration fee of £150 per course will become payable, which will extend a further 6 months (18 months from purchase)
  • Then £25 per course for a further 3 month period until 2 years has been reached.
  • At this point, 2 years from purchase, I will remove you from the system and you will need to repay in full again due to training and technique updates etc. 

All incurred fees must be paid within 28 days of issue to keep you registered on the system as an active learner, or you will be removed and full course lament will be required.

On the rare occasion, if for any reason I need to reschedule your practical session, obviously no fees will be incurred and I will do my best to accommodate the soonest available time for you to train.

NO SHOW 

'No show' for training covers both no notice, i.e. letting me know after start time of your session you will not be attending or not letting me know at all. In this instance a fee of 75% of the original cost of the course will be to be repaid to cover loss of earnings in order for you to rebook your practical session. This will be invoiced and payment requested within 28 days. After this point if payment is not received the booking will be canceled and the full amount will need to be repaid in order to attend the course.

PREMISES

  • 'Lisa Jane Academy' is located inside 'Kikis Salon' 10a St Johns Street, Colchester, Essex, CO2 7AN.
  • Once at the location, the academy area is located in the basement. Unfortunately due to the age and set up of the building, there are steps to access the main building, toilet area and winding steps down to the basement training area. There are no lift facilities. The premises is not wheelchair accessible. 
  • If you are coming by car, there are no parking facilities at the location, but there are public car parks very close by. St Johns (please be aware this car park closes at 7pm and your car will be locked in until the following day), Britannia, NCP Osbourne Street and St Marys are the best long stay car parks. Please check parking restrictions before you travel. I cannot be held liable for parking tickets or fines incurred traveling to or from courses.
  • The whole salon including all areas (except toilet areas) are covered by CCTV for staff and visitor safety. The recordings are kept within strict regulations of GDPR.
  • I am not able to accommodate students bringing anyone with them to training courses. If previously agreed (please reach out before booking) carers or assistance animals may be permitted if appropriate.
  • Within Kikis salon, many other businesses operate in other areas. Please respect the staff, clients and visitors within the building, as well as the the privacy of those attending for any reason. 
  • When you reach the salon, please use the intercom system to alert someone you have arrived. Please state you have come for training with Lisa Jane. The door is always locked with access to worried and pre booked guests only. Please do not leave the door on the latch unless instructed to do so.

TRAINING SESSION

LATENESS

Please let me know with as much notice as possible if you are going to be late. I understand many students travel in and can get caught in unexpected traffic or other delays. If I am able to, I will add the time onto the end, however,I sometimes run courses back to back or have other commitments so on occasion I may not be able to add more time. This will need to be made up by home practice. It is best to check travel times, journey, location, parking arrangements and current traffic etc before you travel so you can adjust timings accordingly. 

If, for any reason, I am running late, I will make up any lost time to you in person. 

IN SESSION

This information will be sent via email when you book.

  • What to wear: please wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting nail dust,or nail products on. Closed toe shoes for safety and hair tied back. Rings and watches/bracelets may need to be removed. 
  • PPE : Personal protective equipment including aprons, nitrile gloves and dust masks are available for use for all students.  If you wish to bring your own, you are welcome to.
  • You must attend with bare nail to all courses. This is so you can be demonstrated on and practice on yourself. If for any reason you are unable to do this, you must discuss this with me asap (preferably before booking) so an alternative arrangement can be made.  Failure to attend with bare nails may result in case studies needing to be completed after you leave your practical session.
  • We stop for regular breaks on each course and the duration/time will be set by the length of the session. Breaks can be taken in the academy or you can venture into the town to grab a bite/coffee. Food/drinks are not available onsite except free bottles of water.
  • Smoking & vaping are not permitted inside any part of Kikis Salon or Lisa Jane Academy. Smoking breaks are allowed but you must go outside and away from the frontage of the salon. Please be considerate of neighbouring businesses and do not litter with cigarette ends. There is a bin on the front of Wrherspoons 2 doors up.
  • The length of your training course includes a break.

If you are unable to work on yourself and with prior arrangement (preferably before booking) we have agreed you can use a model, they will only be permitted at specific times in your course. Not the whole day. They will also need to fill in a consultation and permission form before they can be worked on.

When training I use products from 'WowBao Nails'. This includes, gel polishes, builder gel, acrylic, acrygel, art products, tools and more. My lamps are from WowBao Nails and so have been tested to be compatible. These are also the brand that are within your kit.

If you prefer to use a different brand and want to bring some products to work with, that may be fine subject to prior agreement. I will not use non professional brands in the academy and any professional brands brought in will need to have a compatible lamp provided to ensure safe curing.

Kits: Each course comes with its own kit to take home. Listings are available on the booking page. This can only be received at the end of the final day of practical training once complete. Colours are filled at random and cannot be exchanged.

Case studies: In the event that we agree on the practical day you need more practice to fully adopt the learned techniques, I will set you 'case studies' to complete at home. These will be outlined with a 'due-date'. This will be required before you can 'pass'.

Certificates: Once all theory and practical elements are complete and it is felt you have enough understanding to pass, you will be issued with your certificate/s. For courses accredited via Beauty Guild, these will be sent directly by them to your email. For courses accredited by Professional Beauty Direct, your certificate will be issued by me in person or by post.

Replacement certificates from Beauty Guild must be requested by you to them directly via your online account or by email. 

Replacement certificates from myself for the Professional Beauty Direct courses can be re-writted and posted for £10 fee per certificate. Requests must be put in writing (to info@lisajaneacademy.com) and the cost will be invoiced. 

All students taught by me get lifetime support and this includes one free Refresh session. This can be done in person or online and time allocated will depend on original course length plus Troubleshooting issues. This will need to be booked by requesting it in writing to info@lisajaneacademy.com

BEHAVIOUR

All students must adhere to reasonable behaviour whilst training with Lisa Jane. This includes being respectful of others at the premises, outside whilst representing the academy and online whilst talking about the academy. Group sessions require students to keep what is discussed in session private and confidential.

RETAIL GOODS

At the academy there are lots of items for sale including tools, products, extras and more. I take cash, card payment or online payment through my SumUp shop. You can also buy products before your course to collect while you are there. I do not offer returns or refunds on any products only exchange in the case of a faulty item. This must be within 28 days of purchase.

RIGHT TO CHANGE POLICY

I 'Lisa Jane' reserve the right to alter these policies at any time to best suit the needs of the business.

RIGHT TO REFUSE

I 'Lisa Jane' reserve the right to refuse service or training to any student for any reason i feel would put myself or those at 'Kikis Salon' in harms way, under duress or with damage to reputation. 

FAILURE TO ADHERE

Failure to adhere to any of these policies may result in you being removed as a student or further fees being incurred.

REFUNDS

 I, 'Lisa Jane' at 'Lisa Jane Academy' or 'Lisa Jane Nails & Training' do not offer refunds on courses under any circumstances. Once booked, you have been exposed to training material and the course will be delivered as per agreement of booking. I will always endeavour to communicate a solution by means of reschedule or alteration.
